Yes, it sounds dangerous and the potential for messes seems highly likely, but you'll be surprised at the good, "clean" fun you'll enjoy when you make ice cream. This recipe is enough for one person to make a dish!

1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon sugar
4 cups crushed ice
4 tablespoons salt
2 quart size Zip-loc bags
1 gallon size Zip-loc freezer bag
a hand towel or gloves to keep fingers from freezing as well!

Mix the milk, vanilla and sugar together in one of the quart size bags. Seal tightly, allowing as little air to remain in the bag as possible. Too much air left inside may force the bag open during shaking. Place this bag inside the other quart size bag, again leaving as little air inside as possible and sealing well. By double-bagging, the risk of salt and ice leaking into the ice cream is minimized. Put the two bags inside the gallon size bag and fill the bag with ice, then sprinkle salt on top. Again let all the air escape and seal the bag. Wrap the bag in the towel or put your gloves on, and shake and massage the bag, making sure the ice surrounds the cream mixture. Five to eight minutes is adequate time for the mixture to freeze into ice cream.

Tips

Freezer bags work best because they are thicker and less likely to develop small holes, allowing the bags to leak. You can get away with using regular Zip-loc bags for the smaller quart sizes, because you are double-bagging. Especially if you plan to do this indoors, we strongly recommend using gallon size freezer bags.

Until I did this, I never had a care as to purchasing an ice cream maker. Now? I totally want one!!

i'm just going to start at the beginning.. i was anticipating the memorial all day.

i was nervous but excited, kind of like standing in line for a roller coaster.. ok. so erika gets ready at her house, and i get ready at mine.

I am curious though, what was the purpose you intended?

I am sort of mixed on my thoughts on this. Two days ago, as I formulated in my head what I would want to say to my family, it hit me. Each of us must choose, have chosen, between love and what we need to do to look ourselves in the mirror. You have done so, and so has your mom.

Each of you must live with your choices.

Be certain Richard, I am NOT making a judgment call, as I said, I have mixed feelings on it.

It has been said that your mom has chosen this religion over you. In her head, she has chosen GOD over you. Do you expect her to do less? Would you ask her to do less? It would be one thing if she were not so misled in her heart and was blatantly choosing child molesters over you, but from this point where I see it from, that is not what she is doing. She is choosing God, Jehovah God over you.

The reason I am mixed, is because your past posts regarding her have given me the impression that she has an abusive nature possibly. In this case, your relationship with her is less about God and the JW's and more about abuse.

It's complicated to me. But this is not about me, it's your life. So I can only say if you got what you needed to move on out of this, then that is good. I can't know if how it affected your mom is good or bad, I hope that it will make her think and that I hope that I am wrong about her being an abusive mother, that was just the impression I got.

Regardless, I am glad that you had such loving support at your side.........

ok, i was just reading penny's thread regarding dealing with the invites and noticed decki's post about guinness.

the other day one of our posters started a thread about dealing with her hubby and drinking guinness.. i am so on a guinness kick at the moment.

it's tasting soo yummy.

My husband, bigmouth, has drunk Guiness for years and it makes him a better person. He gets funnier, more attractive and great to be around. I wish he would drink more.

Ahh, yes, drinking Guinness will do that with some people!

If you like Guinness I'll help you out and save you some money. Go get a couple of pieces of charcol off the barby and soak them in some water for about an hour. After an hour discard the charcol chill to your liking and you got a Guinness.

Aight, are you using sarcasm? Yes, I am being a dumb brunette, for alas I cannot tell the difference without the use of a smiley.

That's funny, I've just had one this morning, mind you I've had a long night so it doesn't feel like a morning at all

BSM, it is good beer and something I just read to further your consumption of it, it was asked why the Irish do not have these huge beer bellies like Americonos, it is because Guiness has fewer calories than most beers.
Drink up and seeing that I am coming off my fast tonight, it does sound good but then again everything sounds good right now,

Less calories huh? Oh now that is always a plus!

Fasting. Good for the body. I have tried it a little in the past. The best I can do is lay off the refined flour and sugars. Past that, I end up with huge headaches.

Wow, I did not know that about the iron in the Guinness. I am definitely all for moderation.

I can honestly say that excess is not my thing. <<shrugs>> don't like it much.

I just think it's interesting that the word Guinness is coming up so much right now on the board.
